3 Innovative 2021 Trends for Your Home

2020 gave us a year of memories indoors and led many of us to make use of spaces we hadn’t spent time in until we had to. We saw an explosion of interest in home improvement and renovation, DIYs crafts and tools, and , lots and lots of homemade sourdough. As we go into 2021, we’re all a little desperate to distance ourselves from the isolation and frustration of 2020 – and that starts in your home. Here are some of our favorite innovate   trends to help make 2021 a little cozier, warmer, and comfortable.

  • Breaking down walls conversationally? Personal space has never felt more necessary following a year of sheltering in place, especially for families who weren’t set up to homeschool and work from home before March 2020. One way to make your space work a little better is to split up rooms. New drywall in larger rooms can create a different atmosphere, or invest in some fun and decorative room dividers. Another trick? Put a sliding glass door in your house. Replacing a current door with a sliding glass or mirrored door can add more dimension to a space while still giving everyone their space.

  • Bring the outdoors, indoors. We all spent too much time indoors in 2020. Even when we did get opportunities to go outside, it’s never enough. Greenery and plants have great cost-saving, mental-health-boosting, and delicious benefits. Bring a few potted plants into your house (snake plants and succulents are hard to kill, for those of us with less than green thumbs) or start an herb garden in your kitchen to save money on store-bought herbs and have some delicious fresh garnishes for dinner.
  • Vacationing in the bathroom? Make your home spa feel more like a spa and less like home. Put a Bluetooth speaker in your bathroom to be able to play some soothing music while you relax, and add some abstract art to the walls. Get some nice scented candles, or an essential oil diffuser, and add a small plant to your bathroom for some added oxygen and brightness. Don’t forget the glass of wine when you’re settling down to relax in your home spa!

Let’s face it, it can be incredibly hard to stare at the same four walls for the better part of 10 months. If you’ve begun, continued, or finished renovations in 2020, we hope your home has become a little more comfortable for the new year. And if you’re thinking of creating a more functional and modern-looking space going into 2021 with some sliding doors, give us a call!
